Check out the power supply.
Take more power adaptors than you need.
Make sure you know the daily limits on your credit cards, this may differ from the amount allowed in each individual country and could be controlled by local government limits.
Get your sizing right. There is a vast difference between one foot and one metre.
Know your venue, ceiling height, hanging structures even if the floor is even.
Jet lag can greatly effect your performance. Arrive with plenty of time to aclimatise.
Cultural differences can be astounding, the service you would expect to get in Europe and the USA can be totally different from a show in South America or Outer Mongolia.
Show times vary depending on where you are in the world i.e. European shows traditionally start at 9.00 - 10.00am and finish early evening, in South America they could start at lunchtime and finish at 10.00pm.
When attending the aftershow parties limit the amount you drink, you only have to be up and about the following day and back at the expo.
If you are travelling somewhere new, take a day off after the show to explore a little, you could be back next year with a larger booth and the company's expert on that country.
For more information on doing business abroad check out www.hlbi.com and their section under publications "Doing Business In". Key in the country you are interested in and these little booklets give you a fabulous insight into how to work in a specific country. They look great and are easy to use. They should be, since they were designed by us.
